Chapter 001

On Shieldmeet of 1372 DR (Year of Wild Magic), the order was passed down to summon Fenn, Fezzik Mallester, Gilneas, Mikken Fireborn and Tlida to the funeral of Bashrim Shanadarr. Attending the funeral at the Star Court, the group bore witness to Shanadarr's eulogy by Daethand Dorbrin Alscarb of the Argent Legion. After the service was concluded, Alscarb requested that Fenn, Fezzik, Gilneas, Mikken and Tlida stay behind to speak with him.

Sequestering the group in his office, Alscarb explained that he had been placed in charge of managing Bashrim Shanadarr's incomplete projects after the spy's death. He had come across a list of potential candidates for recruitment into the operation in Bashrim's notes, and on it had found the names of the gathered adventurers. Using the notes as guidelines, Dorbrin was prepared to offer Fenn, Fezzik, Gilneas, Mikken and Tlida employment in the city of Silverymoon. The employment, which was to be arranged and carried out in as much secrecy as possible, would pay out in monetary rewards, limited authority, and free residence in the city-owned property of Bell House. After considering and discussing the offer, the potential recruits agreed.

The first task assigned to Silverymoon's new agents was to investigate and disrupt the work of a small band of orcs sighted on the north face of the Nether Mountains by one of the city's aerial scouts. Dorbrin Alscarb promised the party that he would see to it that they were provided with maps of the area, as well as the opportunity to speak with the scout that had noticed to orc miscreants.

Upon taking the mission, the newly-formed party adjourned to Bell House, where they met the house's seneschal, Grispin Garn. Garn explained to the party some of the house's history, as well as his role within the establishment. After that, the group decided that it would be best to gather supplies for the journey, a task that they completed shortly before the arrival of Nala Ferdoge, the scout who had spotted the orcs while she was out on night patrol with her flying mount, Ghostwing. Nala confirmed the location that the orcs had been spotted in, and gave a rough estimate of their numbers (she guessed somewhere just under a dozen) before she departed.

With information and supplies both secured, Fenn, Fezzik, Gilneas, Mikken and Tlida settled in for the night, with plans to depart the next morning.
